On March 1, the Zhejiang Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation Symposium took place in Hangzhou, attended by the leaders: Shen Xiang, Deputy Director of the Department of Western Asian and African Affairs, Ministry of Commerce; Sheng Qiuping, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Director of the Department of Commerce of Zhejiang Province; and Xu Xu, Deputy Director of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Executive Vice Chairman of the Zhejiang Federation of Industry and Commerce. The conference released the Action Plan for Speeding up Zhejiang-Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation (2019-2022) and introduced key cases of Zhejiang-Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation. Huayou's success was listed in “10 Cases of Zhejiang-Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation”. Qian Xiaoping, Vice President of Huayou attended the symposium and delivered a keynote speech on behalf of Huayou.

Qian delivered a speech on behalf of Huayou. Huayou has promoted the common development of enterprises and the local society and economy with the concept of “contributing to the local economy and society wherever you invest” since its first investment in Africa. Besides, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Huayou has made great efforts on environmental protection, educational support and community co-building, improved local medical and health conditions, and participated in local infrastructural construction, to contribute to the harmonious development of the local society and economy, and establish its favorable image as a Chinese enterprise.

To help more DRC people out of hunger, Huayou joined hands with Zhejiang University and the Lubumbashi University to build Huayou Modern Agriculture Demonstration Park in 2011, covering an area of 110 hectares and with a total investment of 8 million U.S. dollars. In 2016, the park was included as a non-agricultural aid program by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). After more than 6 years of operation, the park has played a properly demonstrative role in the cultivation of improved varieties of grain and vegetable, high-yield and large-scale breeding. By the demonstration, export and training of Chinese agricultural technologies, the park has played a properly demonstrative role in promoting the progress of local agricultural technology and ensured local grain security, thereby being highly praised by the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Commerce and numerous international organizations. In the future, Huayou will continue contributing to the economic prosperity and social development of the DRC, following the business concept of “contributing to the local economy and society wherever you invest”.
