“It was an open space in 2002 where we are standing. But now high buildings have risen from the ground.” The company has realized operation revenue of 18.853 billion Yuan according to 2019 Annual Report issued by Huayou Cobalt last week. It’s impossible to develop the company without the help of technological innovation, because science and technology constitute a primary productive force and innovation is the primary engine of development, said Vice President of Huayou Cobalt Chen Yaozhong.
Huayou Cobalt is a new high-tech enterprise founded in 2002 and specializing in the manufacture of Li-ion new energy materials, deep processing of new cobalt materials, mining, processing and metallurgy of nonferrous copper. After ten years of development, Huayou Cobalt has accomplished headquarter layout in Tongxiang, resource guarantee in Africa, manufacturing base construction in Quzhou and market layout in the world.
“We made a vision in 2016: to become the leader of global Li-ion new energy material industry.” Chen Yaozhong added, to realize the goal, we need be equipped with both the leadership in cost and the leadership in products, the latter requires the international R&D leading level.
In recent years, the company invested more in technology research and development at the same time of introducing international high-end talents and domestic structural talents, as well as improved technology management system with a series of measures obtaining good yields for the enterprises within two years. “As to new energy vehicles, a great many of our products have entered the high-end vehicle industry chain in Europe and America of global brands like Volkswagen, Renault, Volvo. It is predicted that their demand for our products will be up to three or four times of that last year.”
In the opinion of Chen Yaozhong, the deepened mutual trust with the international famous vehicle manufacturers comes from the industrial ecology established for years by the company. “The company has established a complete ecology for vehicle manufacturers with the help of new energy materials as the flagship, traditional nonferrous metallurgy as the support, African resources as the guarantee and recycling industry as the supplementary. Among which, technology constitutes innovation driving force of the whole ecology. The clients view our technology research and development ability as the international leading level.”

“It is an encouragement and impetus to us to be listed in Innovation Type Leading Enterprises of Zhejiang Province.” Chen Yaozhong said it is like sailing against the stream: you either forge ahead or fall behind. We have to invest more in technology research and development for the purpose of maintaining the international leading level in industry chain. However, the investment may yield nothing in a short term, but for a long term, it is bound to create stable profit for the company, which has been proved by the honor of being listed in Innovation Type Leading Enterprises of Zhejiang Province.
“This year, we will launch the “330 Plan”, namely a investment of 3 billion Yuan in research and development within three years with a global leading talents innovation system established for optimizing technology management so as to maintain the international leadership in new energy materials and technology.”
It can assist Huayou Cobalt in undertaking some provincial and national major scientific projects to be listed in Innovation Type Leading Enterprises of Zhejiang Province, which will become the “Golden Name Card” of enterprise technological innovation.
It is known that, based on independent declaration of the enterprises, approval and recommendation of Science and Technology Department at city level, formal examination and third-party evaluation, Science Technology Department of Zhejiang Province determined to list nine enterprises including Zhejiang Huayou Cobalt Co., Ltd. in Innovation Type Leading Enterprises of Zhejiang Province in 2019 and over 80 enterprises including Zhejiang Sunny Optical Technology Co., Ltd. in Innovation Type Cultivation Leading Enterprises of Zhejiang Province for the purposes of propelled the high-quality growth of new high-tech industry, cultivating key new high-tech enterprises.
Nine enterprises in Jiaxing are listed, ranking the top in terms of number in Zhejiang Province, seen by the reporter from Notice of Science Technology Department of Zhejiang Province on Issuing 2019 Innovation Type Leading Enterprises of Zhejiang Province. Zhejiang Huayou Cobalt Co., Ltd. took the top spot in Innovation Type Leading Enterprises of Zhejiang Province in 2019 for its achievements and eight other enterprises like Zhejiang TDG Holding Co., Ltd. are listed in Innovation Type Cultivation Leading Enterprises of Zhejiang Province.
